Actually, you CAN place it on one side of the wall at both Vale and Water camps and teleport thru them, tested it several times, it works! It just seems like the bridge to the south of ruins has some kind of obstruction script on it, as well as the tower/keep walls. With this new patch, you can now destroy shadowtrap whenever you want, allowing you to teleport to a pre-set location, 10,000 range away.
